most of us have all that we need.
some of us have all that we want.
let's give up our wants
for the needs of others.
"Give it up for Gulu" is an effort to raise awareness and support for the people of Gulu, Uganda who are recovering from a 20+ year long war with the LRA (Lord's Resistance Army)
. We wish to bring hope to the people by showing that we care about, pray for, and support them.
Fr. James Okello of the Archdiocese of Gulu, Uganda
visited St. Catherine of Siena Church
in Wilmington, Delaware January 2012. His visit softened our hearts and opened our minds to the life of the people in Gulu.
Why are we born with so many opportunities and others in the world are so troubled and impoverished? We believe we are given the opportunity to share our many blessings with the less fortunate and to show our love for our brothers and sisters so far away.
"If you educate them, they can feed and care for themselves."-Fr. James Okello
Fr. James expressed to us the need of a pre-primary school for children ages 3-7. Fundraising has begun and the ground breaking was held on January 20, 2013.
